3 Reasons Your AC Could Be Leaking Water

When it is a hot day in the city and you need HVAC services in Ontario, there isn’t any time to waste. One of the first things people notice when their air conditioner needs attention is that it leaks. There are a few reasons that your air conditioner may be leaking.

Frozen Evaporator Coils
One of the most common reasons for frozen evaporator coils are clogged air filters, a lack of refrigerant, a broken blower motor, blocked vents or registers, low refrigerant, and dirty coils. To avoid these problems replace your filter every month. If your air conditioner has frozen evaporator coils, turn your unit off until you have resolved the problem. If your problem is caused by low refrigerant or a broken blower motor you will need to contact Aire One Heating and Cooling, with locations all over Ontario, for a professional inspection.

Cracked Drain Pan
Another common reason for a leaking air conditioner is a cracked drain pan. If one of your AC’s drain pans is cracked, you may be able to fix it. First clean out all of the water from the overflow pan underneath the unit so you can inspect it. Once you locate the crack you may be able to temporarily repair it with a water sealant. If the leak is in the permanent pan beneath the evaporator coils, you will need a professional repair service- contact us today to schedule an appointment.

Condensate Drain Line Clog
Your AC will also leak water if it has a clogged drain line. Most of the time this can be easily fixed with a wet-dry vac. The condensate line commonly gets clogged with debris and needs to be cleaned. Simply connect your wet-dry vac to the line next to the condenser unit to remove the debris. If your air conditioner is still not working properly you will need to schedule an appointment with a certified technician from Aire One Heating and Cooling, locations in Southern Ontario.
