Should I Repair or Replace My Furnace?

Before winter arrives, know when your furnace needs to be replaced or repaired. It’s not always easy to know when and how to choose professional HVAC services in Ontario. You may notice a problem that you think cannot be repaired at all. Other times, you’ll believe that saving money is holding onto an old furnace for 10 to 20 more years. Know which route you should take, and be prepared for the cold season.

When to Repair Your Furnace
Age is a good indicator of condition; however, an old furnace runs efficiently if it has been maintained well. You can stick with a furnace that is 10 years or younger. Old age does not automatically mean that a machine needs replacing.

There are common symptoms, such as rattling noises and below-average heating, that indicate the need for a furnace repair in Ontario. These are warning signs that your furnace will eventually need HVAC services from Aire One Heating and Cooling, serving cities all over Southern Ontario. If you make any repairs, do it as soon as possible instead of waiting too late and having its cost increase.

When to Replace Your Furnace
Replace a furnace that breaks down too frequently in the year. Two or more malfunctions per year will result in expensive repairs. When you look at the total repair bills, you’ll realize that you’ve spent more money than necessary.

Replace a furnace when you cannot afford the cost of a furnace repair in Ontario. You may realize that the costs are unnecessarily high, and buying a brand-new furnace is more economical. This step requires that you compare the costs of repairs with those of new installations.

If you want to lower your high energy bills, replace an old furnace with a new one. Newer furnaces are more likely to be energy efficient than older models. An energy efficient furnace has a 80% or higher annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE), which means that only 20% of the energy output is released as exhaust. The models with 95% AFUE are typical of the most recent versions of gas-powered furnaces.
