Indoor air quality in Durham Region gets worse in the same months we notice it least. From November to March, homes across Whitby, Oshawa, Ajax, and Pickering stay sealed, the furnace recirculates the same air several times an hour, and dust, pet dander, cooking particles, and moisture have nowhere to go. This guide covers what is actually in that air, which fixes work, what each one costs in Ontario, and the order we recommend doing them in. Where equipment helps, it links to our indoor air quality services.

The short answer: The fastest way to improve indoor air quality in a Durham Region home is to control the source first, then ventilate, then filter. That means removing or reducing the pollutant at its origin, adding fresh air through an HRV or exhaust fans, and only then upgrading to a MERV 11 to 13 filter or an in duct purifier. Health Canada is clear that filtration alone is rarely effective on its own.

What Actually Affects the Air in a Durham Home

Most of what lowers indoor air quality is produced inside the house, not drawn in from outside. Health Canada groups the main residential sources into particles, gases, and biological contaminants, and in Ontario homes the usual list is short and predictable: dust and dust mites in bedding and carpet, pet dander, cooking particles from the stove, mould in damp basements and bathrooms, and volatile organic compounds released by cleaning products, paint, air fresheners, and new furniture.

The widely repeated claim that indoor air is several times more polluted than outdoor air comes from research showing that concentrations of some pollutants can run roughly two to five times higher indoors. It is a fair headline, but it is not true of every pollutant in every home, and it is worth being precise about that. What is consistently true is that Canadians spend close to 90 percent of their time indoors, so even a modest indoor concentration adds up to a large share of total exposure.

Durham Region adds a few local wrinkles. Proximity to Lake Ontario keeps summer humidity high, which favours mould and dust mites in basements. Long sealed heating seasons drive relative humidity down and concentrate particles. And newer subdivisions in north Whitby, Brooklin, and Courtice are built tight for energy efficiency, which is excellent for heating bills and poor for natural air exchange. A tight house without mechanical ventilation is the single most common indoor air quality problem we see in newer Durham builds.

The Free and Cheap Fixes to Try First

Honest first: a large share of homeowners who call us about air quality do not need new equipment. Before you spend anything, work through the source control steps, because they are what Health Canada and the City of Toronto public health guidance both put ahead of filtration.

Run the kitchen range hood every time you cook, and confirm it vents outside rather than recirculating. Cooking is the largest routine particle source in most homes.

Run the bathroom fan for 20 minutes after every shower to keep moisture out of drywall and grout.

Fix leaks and dry damp areas within 48 hours. Mould needs moisture, and removing moisture is cheaper than removing mould.

Change your furnace filter on schedule. Our furnace filter guide covers the intervals for Durham homes.

Cut scented products and aerosols, which are a direct and avoidable source of volatile organic compounds.

Vacuum with a HEPA equipped machine rather than sweeping, which lifts settled dust back into the air.

When this is not enough: if you have done all of the above and someone in the house still has persistent allergy or asthma symptoms indoors, or the home smells stale within an hour of closing the windows, the problem is usually ventilation or a moisture source you cannot see. That is the point to book an assessment rather than buy a device.

Indoor Air Quality Options and Ontario Costs

Here is the honest comparison of the equipment Durham homeowners actually ask about, what each one does, and what it costs installed in Ontario. Pricing is quote based because duct configuration, furnace type, and home size change every job, so these are ranges rather than fixed prices.

Option

Typical Ontario Range (CAD)

What It Actually Does

Best For

MERV 11 to 13 pleated furnace filter

$25 to $60 CAD each

Captures fine particles, dust, pollen, dander in circulated air

Almost every home, the cheapest real improvement

Whole home media filter cabinet

$400 to $900 CAD installed

Deeper filter media, better capture, changed once or twice a year

Allergy households, pet owners

In duct UV or air purification system

$550 to $1,100 CAD installed

Targets airborne bacteria, mould spores, and some viruses on the coil and in the airstream

Musty odours, mould history, immune sensitive households

Whole house humidifier

$400 to $1,200 CAD installed

Holds winter humidity in the 30 to 50 percent range automatically

Dry winter air, static, cracking wood floors

Heat recovery ventilator (HRV)

$2,500 to $4,200 CAD installed

Exchanges stale indoor air for filtered outdoor air while recovering heat

Tight or newer homes, stuffiness, high CO2 or humidity

Duct and vent cleaning

$300 to $600 CAD per visit

Removes accumulated debris from ducts, does not filter ongoing pollutants

After renovations, visible debris, rodent or mould evidence

Portable HEPA air cleaner

$100 to $1,000 CAD

Cleans one room, no installation, moves with you

Renters, one bedroom or nursery, temporary needs

Costs shown are typical Ontario ranges in Canadian dollars (CAD), verified July 2026, subject to change. Exact pricing requires an in home assessment.

The pattern worth noticing is that the cheapest item on the list, a better furnace filter, delivers the largest improvement per dollar in most homes. Equipment further down the list solves narrower problems, and buying it before you have identified the problem is the most common way Durham homeowners overspend on air quality. If you already know which fix you need, our air purification and treatment page covers installation, or call 905-576-7600.

When Ventilation Beats Filtration

Filters remove particles. They do nothing about gases, carbon dioxide, or the stale feeling of a house that has not exchanged air in weeks. That distinction is why Health Canada advises that filtering indoor air is rarely effective on its own and should sit alongside source control and improved ventilation.

In practice, this is the diagnostic question we ask first in newer Durham builds. If the house feels stuffy, windows fog on the inside in winter, or odours from cooking linger for hours, filtration is not the answer. A heat recovery ventilator is, because it brings in outdoor air continuously and recovers most of the heat from the air it expels, so it does not undo your heating bill. In an Ontario winter an ENERGY STAR certified HRV running on low draws roughly 30 to 90 watts, which is a small operating cost against the comfort gain.

Possible downside: an HRV is the most expensive item on the list, needs balancing and commissioning at install, and a poorly installed one can create pressure imbalances that make air quality worse rather than better. It is also the wrong purchase for a draughty older home that already exchanges plenty of air through its envelope. In those homes the money is better spent on sealing, filtration, and humidity control.

Humidity, the Part Most Homes Get Wrong

The target is 30 to 50 percent relative humidity year round. Below 30 percent, which is where most Durham homes sit in January, you get static shocks, dry skin, scratchy throats, worse sleep, and cracking in wood floors and instruments. Above 50 percent, which is where basements sit in July and August, you get mould, dust mites, and musty odours.

Both ends are indoor air quality problems, and both have straightforward equipment answers: a whole house or portable humidifier for winter, a dehumidifier or properly sized air conditioner for summer. An oversized air conditioner is a hidden cause of a damp feeling house, because it cools quickly and shuts off before it has removed enough moisture. A $15 hygrometer from any hardware store tells you which problem you actually have, and we would rather you buy that first than guess.

Safety first, always. If you smell gas, leave the home immediately and call your gas utility emergency line from outside. If a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, get everyone outside and call 911. Do not open panels, adjust gas valves, or attempt repairs on gas lines, venting, refrigerant, or electrical connections. In Ontario that work legally requires a TSSA licensed gas technician. Once everyone is safe, our 24 hour emergency line is 905-576-7600.

Carbon Monoxide and Radon, the Two You Cannot Filter

No air filter, purifier, or UV system removes carbon monoxide or radon. Both are gases, both are odourless, and both are the genuinely dangerous end of indoor air quality, so they get handled separately from everything else on this page.

Carbon monoxide is a combustion byproduct from furnaces, water heaters, fireplaces, and attached garages. Ontario law requires working CO alarms near sleeping areas in homes with a fuel burning appliance or attached garage. Test them monthly, replace them per the manufacturer's date, and have combustion appliances inspected annually. A properly performed annual furnace maintenance visit includes a combustion and venting check, which is the point of it.

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that enters from the soil and is, according to Health Canada, the leading cause of lung cancer among non smokers in Canada. It cannot be detected by smell and it cannot be filtered out of the air. The only way to know your level is a long term test kit of at least 90 days, and if the level is high the fix is a mitigation system installed by a professional certified under the Canadian National Radon Proficiency Program. This is outside HVAC scope and we will tell you so rather than sell you equipment that will not help.

How We Assess a Durham Home

Our air quality assessment follows the same order every time, because recommending equipment before diagnosis is how homeowners end up with devices that do not solve their problem.

Symptom mapping. Which rooms, which seasons, which people, and what changed. Symptoms that vanish when you leave the house point somewhere very different than symptoms that follow you.

Moisture and humidity readings in the living space and the basement, in the season you are complaining about.

Source inspection. Range hood venting, bathroom fans, visible mould, basement moisture, attached garage, pets, recent renovations.

System inspection. Filter type and condition, static pressure headroom, duct condition, coil cleanliness, combustion and venting safety check.

Recommendation in cost order, cheapest effective fix first, with the option to do nothing stated plainly when that is the right call.

[INSERT AIRE ONE EAST DATA: e.g. the most common indoor air quality issue found on Durham Region assessments, with the number of assessments (N), the date window, and the technician or team who compiled it. Publish only with a real sample of at least 30 and show the N beside any percentage. Delete this block entirely if no verified figure is available.]

Choose Your First Upgrade

Choose a better filter if you have never gone past a basic $5 fibreglass filter. Move to MERV 11 to 13 if your system can handle it and start there. See the filter guide.

Choose an HRV if your home is post 2010 construction, feels stuffy, and windows fog in winter.

Choose a humidifier if winter static and dry skin are your main complaint and your hygrometer reads under 30 percent.

Choose duct cleaning if you have just finished a renovation, or there is visible debris or evidence of rodents or mould in the ducts. Read our honest take on duct cleaning and dust before booking.

Choose an in duct purifier if you have a mould history or an immune sensitive household and the basics are already covered.

Choose a portable HEPA unit if you rent, or you only need one room such as a nursery. Our guide to indoor air quality for babies covers that case in detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I improve the indoor air quality in my home?

Work in three steps: control the source, ventilate, then filter. Remove or reduce the pollutant first by venting the range hood outside, running bathroom fans, fixing moisture, and cutting scented products. Then improve fresh air exchange, with an HRV in a tightly built home. Only then upgrade filtration to MERV 11 to 13 or an in duct purifier.

What MERV rating should I use in my furnace?

Health Canada's public health recommendation is MERV 13 or higher for recirculated air where feasible, and MERV 11 to 13 is the practical range for most residential furnaces. Higher ratings restrict airflow more, so confirm your system has the static pressure headroom before jumping to MERV 13. A technician can check this in a few minutes during a maintenance visit.

Does duct cleaning improve indoor air quality?

Sometimes, and less often than the advertising suggests. Duct cleaning is genuinely worthwhile after renovations, or when there is visible debris, rodent evidence, or mould in the ductwork. It is not a routine annual fix and it does not filter anything on an ongoing basis. If your ducts are clean, the money is better spent on filtration or ventilation.

Is indoor air really more polluted than outdoor air?

For some pollutants, yes. Research has found indoor concentrations of certain pollutants running roughly two to five times higher than outdoors, largely because the sources are inside and the air is recirculated. It is not true of every pollutant in every home. What matters more is that Canadians spend close to 90 percent of their time indoors, so indoor air makes up most of total exposure.

Do UV air purifiers actually work?

In duct UV systems are effective against biological contaminants such as mould and bacteria on the coil and in the airstream, but they do not remove dust, dander, or gases. They work best paired with MERV 11 to 13 filtration rather than instead of it. In Ontario, installed cost typically runs about $550 to $1,100 CAD, with bulb replacement roughly $50 to $125 CAD per year.

What humidity level should I keep in my home in winter?

Aim for 30 to 50 percent relative humidity. Below 30 percent you get static, dry skin, and scratchy throats. Above 50 percent you invite mould and dust mites. A whole house humidifier holds the range automatically through the furnace, and an inexpensive hygrometer tells you where you actually sit before you buy anything.

The Bottom Line for Durham Homeowners

Improving indoor air quality in a Durham Region home is a sequence, not a purchase. Control the sources, get the humidity into the 30 to 50 percent band, add ventilation if the house is tight, and upgrade filtration to MERV 11 to 13. Handle carbon monoxide with working alarms and an annual combustion check, and handle radon with a long term test, because no filter touches either one. If you want a second opinion before spending on equipment, call Aire One East at 905-576-7600 or book a free in home assessment.

Remove or reduce the pollutant first by venting the range hood outside, running bathroom fans, fixing moisture, and cutting scented products. Then improve fresh air exchange, with an HRV in a tightly built home. Only then upgrade filtration to MERV 11 to 13 or an in duct purifier." } },

Research has found indoor concentrations of certain pollutants running roughly two to five times higher than outdoors, largely because the sources are inside and the air is recirculated. It is not true of every pollutant in every home. What matters more is that Canadians spend close to 90 percent of their time indoors, so indoor air makes up most of total exposure." } },

They work best paired with MERV 11 to 13 filtration rather than instead of it. In Ontario, installed cost typically runs about $550 to $1,100 CAD, with bulb replacement roughly $50 to $125 CAD per year." } },
{ "@type": "Question", "name": "What humidity level should I keep in my home in winter?", "acceptedAnswer": { "@type": "Answer", "text": "Aim for 30 to 50 percent relative humidity.
When shopping for furnaces, homeowners will come across the terms one-stage and two-stage. This choice presents differences in purchasing, operating, and repair costs due to the way these furnaces work. Single-stage furnaces always operate at 100% power, while dual-stage furnaces can operate at 70% or 100% power.

The main benefit of a one-stage furnace is its price. Not only are these furnaces more affordable to purchase, but they are durable and less expensive to repair than two-stage furnaces. Two-stage furnaces have a higher cost due to the second heat exchanger and may cost more to repair; although, they are just as durable. Aire One, a heating and cooling company being in this industry for over 30 years, have experience with both types and is able to make repairs.

Because most one-stage furnaces have a blower that operates at max speed and volume, the furnace blows more cold air through the ducts than a two-stage furnace, which typically has a multi-speed blower that blows less forcefully before the furnace has fully heated up. For this reason, single-stage furnaces have a greater temperature variability. A one-stage furnace can swing up to 4 degrees while a two-stage furnace has temperature swings of only one or two degrees.

Another benefit of a two-stage furnace is its longer cycle, which enables the air in your home to be pulled through the furnace more frequently than with a one-stage furnace. Although this is not as effective as running an air purifier, it does remove more dust and debris from the air. The longer cycles also cause a humidifier that’s connected to the HVAC system run longer, producing a more comfortable indoor climate.

When it comes to efficiency, two-stage furnaces are more efficient. The longer cycle runs more consistently at lower power. These furnaces have efficiency ratings between 95% and 97%, while single-stage furnaces have slightly lower efficiency ratings of between 90% and 95%. This efficiency can make up the price difference over the life of the furnace.

Aire One, a heating and cooling company operating in Ontario, doesn’t just make sure that your home is at the right temperature. As a licensed company with experienced technicians Aire One can also provide information about humidity and how it impacts your comfort and health, especially during the winter months.

In winter, the ideal humidity level is between 40% and 50%. Problems arise, however, when you increase the temperature by turning on the furnace. Although there is more heat, the amount of moisture in the air stays the same. And because humidity is relative, and warmer air can actually hold more moisture, the relative humidity will decrease. This is why it’s important to use a humidifier during the winter if you live in an area that becomes cold and dry, especially when you turn on the heat.

The effects of low humidity can range from pesky static cling and shocks to more serious respiratory infections. You can experience dry skin or eyes, and mucous membranes may become irritated when they’re too dry. This is why it’s common to have a sore throat when your home is too dry.

It’s less common to experience humidity that’s too high during winter, but it can happen, perhaps as a result of running a humidifier that’s not right for your space. Because our homes are shut up during the winter to keep the cold out, moisture sometimes becomes trapped inside. One of the signs that your home is too humid is condensation on your windows. A musty odor is also a surefire sign of too much humidity. You can feel the stickiness of high humidity on your skin. Mold, mildew, and dust mites all thrive in humid conditions as well.

Although you can use a standalone humidifier, you can also consider an HVAC system that takes humidity into consideration alongside its ability to heat. Aire One, a trusted heating and cooling company with over 20 years of experience can provide more information about the HVAC system and tools that best meet your needs to keep your home comfortable and your family healthy. Contact us today to find out more.

As you know, the winter months are filled with snow and ice. Because of this, many people wonder if part of maintaining their air conditioner includes covering it during the winter. Although this seems like a logical approach, it may surprise you to learn that covering your air conditioner during the winter is not a practice recommended by any reputable heating and cooling company.

When not to cover

Air conditioners are designed to withstand the harsh conditions that the winter months bring. In fact, covering your air conditioner traps moisture, which can lead to mold. Trapped moisture can also freeze on your air conditioner’s coils, causing undue damage over time. Additionally, a covered air conditioner provides rodents a nice place to get in out of the cold.

When to cover

As any heating and cooling company will tell you, fall is the only time you should cover your air conditioner. Leaves and other debris create little pockets that allow moisture to collect, causing corrosion and encouraging mold. Additionally, excess leaves can block the air conditioner’s drainage system.

That said, if a blizzard is approaching, you might want to cover your unit to prevent excess snow from building up. Excess snow melts during the day then freezes at night and can damage the fan blades and coils. However, you should be sure to remove the cover as soon as the storm has passed as doing so will prevent moisture from being trapped within your unit.

How to cover

You should never cover your unit completely. Instead, you should cover only the top portion, ensuring any material does not cover more than six inches of any side. This approach will ensure your system is protected from leaves and debris during the fall or excess snow during a blizzard without trapping moisture that could cause rust and corrosion. Additionally, you should be sure to choose a material that is breathable as this will let the air flow freely while reducing the likelihood that moisture will collect.

Although many people cover their air conditioners, you can ensure the health of your family and the long-term operation of your unit by not doing so.
Today’s furnace is state-of-the-art heating equipment that is virtually mechanically solid state due to new engineered designs. What this means for buyers of this equipment is less costly repairs. However, with the reduction in the number of furnace parts, there are still several major parts that require maintenance to avoid repairs.

These parts depend on whether the furnace operates on gas, oil, electricity or hot water. The major furnace parts include, heat exchanger, vents (ductwork), ignition and safety controls, gas manifolds and burners and a furnace blower. It is important to know the function of each of these in order to identify a malfunction. As a heating and cooling company with over 30 years of experience, Aire One got you covered.

What is a Furnace Blower?
As its name implies a furnace blower is powered by a motor that distributes air from the furnace to the venting system. A furnace blower motor helps circulate air through the venting system. In a gas furnace, it is fueled by a gas supply pipe and has a motor and blower pulley and a belt. As a professional heating and cooling company, Aire One will assist with repairs, replacements, upgrades and new installations.

How to Fix a Faulty Furnace Blower
For the average owner of a furnace, fixing a furnace blower requires tools and the ability to identify parts for replacement. The cause of the faulty furnace blower also needs to be detailed and determined. At Aire One Heating & Cooling Company, we offer expert services that are cost-effective.

Faulty furnace blower problems may include:
– Mechanical blower parts worn or damaged
– Worn blower belt or pulley
– Blower motor no longer functions

When your heating system no longer provides an efficient supply of heat that is evenly distributed, it may be time to contact a professionals at Aire One to identify the problem, make repairs and replace a faulty furnace blower.

When the colder weather sets in, you naturally want to stay indoors in a nice warm home. The problem is that as the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, your heating bills go up. We know that opening the electric bill can be stressful, and that’s why Aire One, heating and cooling company operating in Ontario, recommends taking these steps:

Lower Your Thermostat

This is the easiest way to lower your heating bill. By training yourself to put on a sweater instead of cranking up the heat, you’ll see a noticeable drop in your monthly usage. You can save even more by setting your thermostat to 55 at night and using extra blankets to stay warm.

Seal Your Windows And Doors

If cracks or gaps in your windows and doors are allowing your heat to escape, them seal them up to keep your house cozy. Use weatherstripping or caulking to create a good seal to keep the warm air in your home from going out the windows.

Hang Window Treatments For Insulation

Installing heavy curtains is a great way to add an extra layer between your windows and the elements. During the day open any south-facing windows to let the sun warm your home, but don’t forget to close them at night.

Check Your Outlets

Electrical outlets are often a major cause of heat loss due to a lack of insulation. You can solve this problem by removing the outlet cover and applying spray foam insulation to fill any gaps. Outlet insulators are also an inexpensive way to keep drafts out.

Upgrade To A High-Efficient HVAC System

When you install a more efficient heating and cooling system, you’ll use less energy to heat your home. New HVAC systems include programmable thermostats, are easier to maintain and promote a stable environment throughout your home.

When you’re ready to save money, contact us for assistance for all of your energy appliance needs. Aire One has been providing superior service for over 30 years to hundreds of satisfied customers, and we look forward to helping you too.

Home heating is among the biggest use of energy in a home. These systems ensure that your home is heated so that you can be comfortable, and systems such as plumbing remain functional.

There are four main Types of Heating Systems:

Furnace

A forced-air furnace that relies on ignition of propane or natural gas to heat air before that air is distributed throughout the house in your ductwork by a blow.

Boiler

A boiler system relies on oil or electricity to heat water, which is then sent as steam through your home through radiators or radiant floor heating. As the steam cools and condenses, it returns to the boiler, and the process begins again.

Heat Pumps

There are two types of heat pumps. Air pumps transfer heat from the air between the inside and outside of a home while a ground pump transfers heat between the air inside of a home and the ground outside. The pump absorbs heat from the air and moves it where you want it. A heat pump can heat and cool in this way.

Fireplace

A traditional fireplace burns wood, allowing heat to spread to the immediate area. Smoke exits through a chimney. The process continues when the hot air in the chimney rises and creates a draft that pulls up more hot air behind it.

While fireplaces were once made from brick, that style has fallen out of favor due to the cost. Modern fireplaces consist of a firebox in which flammable gas is lit, and ceramic-fiber logs give the impression of burning wood. Air and gas are exchanged via pipes.

There are a few more heating options, including space heaters. These portable heaters can heat a small space but are not intended to heat an entire house. This includes gas-fired heaters, which require some gas, and electric heaters. Space heaters may be a good option for bedrooms or even cabins.

There are several factors that determine which heating system is the best, including space, the cost of installation, maintenance, and electricity or fuel, and safety. Professionals at Aire One, heating and cooling company operating in Ontario with over 30 years of experience, can help you make that decision. Contact us for more information.

Boiler is a type of home heating system along with furnaces and heat pumps. Continue reading to learn 5 fun facts about Boilers every homeowner should know.

1. Boilers Aren’t Boilers

Older models might have boiled the water, but not anymore. The change came with an increase in efficiency: keeping the water between 140 and 190 F decreases the energy required to keep your house warm. Less fuel is used, and it experiences less wear-and-tear by not having steam in the pipes.

Keeping the water at a steady, stable temperature also means your home will be the same way.

2. All the Heat, None of the Humidity

Constantly having hot water circulating through the house would increase humidity, and possibly damage your furniture and belongings, right?

Not at all. The boiler’s system is completely closed from the rest of the house. The hot water only circulates through the pipes and boiler itself. All the materials and pipes are non-porous, so no water or even water vapor can escape into your home. Powered by water, but your home stays dry and cozy.

3. Heating Bill Down, Water Bill Up?

Boilers recycle their water, reheating it whenever it cools instead of using new water every time. Your water bill remains steady, and your heating bill goes down.

They do need to keep a consistent pressure to work at optimum efficiency, so adding or removing water may be necessary during regular maintenance. An experienced heating and cooling company such as Aire One, operating in Ontario can help you with the process.

4. Heat, Energy, and Water Efficiency

Modern boilers aren’t the old energy sucks they used to be. High-efficiency boilers use at least 85% of the fuel they consume. Because they don’t boil the water, they’re also using less fuel to maintain the heat.

5. Low Maintenance

Boilers have fewer moving parts than furnaces, and any problems are minor inconveniences that alert you to speak with professionals from Aire One, a heating and cooling company with over 30 years of experience, such as the upstairs not getting warm enough. You can even increase the life of your boiler yourself by checking the pressure stays between 12 and 15 psi.

Your heating and cooling systems are essential for the comfort of your home. It’s necessary to maintain your HVAC system to ensure it functions properly and efficiently. You can also prevent expensive repairs by having your heating and cooling units maintained by a professional. If you’re HVAC isn’t working the way it should, then it’s probably one of these four common heating and cooling problems.

Heat Isn’t Dispersed Evenly Throughout The House

You may notice some rooms feel chillier than others, or that there’s no heat at all in some rooms. This could be caused by closed vents, dirty air filters or duct problems.

No Heat In The Entire House

If your heat isn’t coming on at all, then you’ll want to check the thermostat to make sure it’s set high enough for the heat to come on. If you rely on a furnace for heating, then it may have a part that needs replacing, dirty evaporator coils or filters.

Your Furnace Is Leaking

A little condensation is normal for a furnace, but if it’s leaking water, then it’s a sign of trouble. If this is the case, then you may have a clogged drain or pipe which is stopping the furnace from turning on.

Low Pressure In The Boiler

Boilers and radiators need constant water pressure to work properly. If your pressure gauge is low, then you may have a leak in the drainage pipes. Bleeding the radiator also can create low pressure in the system since the pressure drops as the air is released from the system.

When Should You Call A Heating And Cooling Professional?

It can be frustrating when your heat stops working, especially during the chill of winter. There are some things that you can do easily to fix the problem such as opening a vent or changing a clogged air filter. However, mechanical, electrical and ductwork issues should all be handled by a experienced and licensed professionals from Aire One, heating and cooling company, operating all over Ontario. Don’t forget to book annual maintenance to keep your equipment operating safely and efficiently. Contact us today and receive a 24-hour emergency service.

Depending on your home layout, a Garage Heater can also significantly increase the comfort in your home. If you have a bonus room or bedroom above the garage, the floors will be considerably warmer with heat in the garage below.
